How processes appear #
A process appears when a signal reports a process.pid attribute. Processes are discovered from spans, logs and metrics together.
Process detail #
- PID — the process identifier, scoped to its host.
- Command line and executable — what the process is running.
- User — the account the process runs as.
- Host and service — where it runs and what it belongs to.
- CPU, memory and thread count — averaged over the window.
- Running since — the first time it was seen in the window.
Filtering #
Narrow the list by:
- service
- user
- host
- env
Using it #
- Filter by user to see everything one account is running.
- Filter by host to review one machine's processes.
- Sort by CPU or memory to find what is consuming a host.
A process with no resource figures
CPU, memory and thread counts come from the process metric families. Send those metrics to populate the columns.
